I think that the very first photo stamp that you are calling a C4 has a thin at the bottom left of photo and as you say you have not bought it yet you could ask the seller about that dark round spot and if it does have any gum I do not see much. The old new shiny gum varnish looking ones that are so prevalent look re-gummed to me.
It's so tough to tell from scans. stamps that look bad can turn out to be good, and stamps that look good can turn out to be bad. Sometimes even obviously bad when looking at them in person.
This is a pointless exercise as they need to be seen in person and opinions are all over the map and the original poster has no clue who to trust more and who to trust less.
As for crackly-ness - a stamp that has experience more humidity will look different than one that hasn't even if both are original gum.
Agreed that the discussion has not reached a conclusive destination, BUT... the journey was very instructive, especially after I added some extracurricular reading on the topic.
