So no ebay fees on the sales tax, but PayPal fees on the sales tax

When I place an order, I get two receipts from PayPal, one for the actual cost of the item (plus shipping) and one for the tax payment to a different entity than the seller. The seller doesn't get hit with a PayPal fee for the sales tax, as far as I can tell as the tax amount never gets deposited into their account.

I buy nearly all my shipping supplies on ebay and I guess I should be Sales Tax exempt for those but what about everything else I buy?

You might want to check with your State to determine their rules wrt "Items used by the business in performing the business activity even if billed to customers". In my State, sales or use tax is required to be paid for such.

I just had an interesting question from a customer, does anyone have experience similar to this;

Hey Ken, I r'c'd this packet of collections (New Zealand, New South Wales, Nevis, Nossi Be, New Brunswick & Nova Scotia, and Nauru, Nepal & Nejd) yesterday. As I always do, I check what I received with the original listing. I note the original charge for the collections was $587.28, which is the amount charged against my BofA account through PayPal (according to my banking records). However, my confusion is that I also (as usual) made a copy of my " ebay Invoice", which showed a total on this order of $643.07. (This is exactly the original $587.28 plus a presumed 6-1/2% tax -- but it seems this was not charged against my BofA account.) All this is rather confusing to me. I know you're quite busy, but if you could enlighten me, that would help. (I also suppose you read my feedback -- all of which is good!!) As always, my thanks!

I only see $587.28 anything over that is invisible to me.

Ken
