Hi Rod,
Could you copy the files on the USB to a CD/DVD and try to install that way? |

Disappointing Rod but it is good to get the same result. Rubbish software.
Now if we were talking about configuring printers in Linux.......... |

Those look weird to me- I thought a scanner has a glass plate that you lay the item on. |

Partly my fault Bobby, I didn't expect much for $100, but have it without software, was a bridge too far. For anyone whom has purchased: You CAN get this thing to work, a bit of a bodgy, but if you are unable to return it............ I downloaded a TWAIN (Technology Without An Interesting Name) driver from Viisan. After all, all they are, is a camera on a tripod. and away we went, there is NO sophisticated software, but it takes images at a reasonable image with lots of adjustment |

Louise, this type of document camera, is not really a scanner, it enables one to take an image WITHOUT laying material face down. Eg : Large Books, deep items (dolls etc) For instance: You can lay a magazine on your desk, set the image frame, "click" take a picture of the cover, turn the page "click" , and so on..... |

Quote: out of interest, have you or others used portable, handheld scanners? Hi Geoff, not of late, I had one when they first came out, 10 years ago? fuzzy results. No doubt they have come of age, but never used one, or even heard of anyone having one. Note: There is now software for your iphone or android. Is it "CamScan" or something like it, has OCR and everything. I guess that is the latest. here it is "CamScanner" https://www.camscanner.com/Not used it myself. |
