Traditional Children's Games, issued by Laos on June 1, 2003: Coconut feet lifter (Lean Kapo Mak Phao) - made of two perforated pieces of coconut peels tied by strings. The coconut peels are put on the legs and the competitors run with them holding the strings. This game is common in the rural areas of Laos.  Spinning top (Mak Khang) - made of hard wood spikes in cone or pear shaped that are thrown to the ground to turn around. There are several types of spinning tops like: gyroscope, peg top and whipping top. The last one is depicted on this stamp:  Ti Khee game is a form of hockey played with bamboo sticks (Mai Khee) and ball (Lou Khee). Ti Khee game is played also by adults especially in That Luang festival. It is used to be played between the local inhabitants and the civil servants and aimed to decrease the tension between the two groups:  |
