Makanudo, Your Apollo 13 cover is interesting. I've never seen one with a moon landing cachet. Obviously it was prepared ahead of time. For all you "youngin's," Apollo 13 was launched on April 11, 1970 and 56 hours into the flight the mission was aborted after a rupture of the service module oxygen tank. They never landed on the Moon. It was a struggle just to return to Earth. The April 14 postmark would have been made after the accident. Interesting! Dan |

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example. I collect for enjoyment, not investment. APS Member #223433 Postmark Collectors Club Member #6333 Meter Stamp Society Member #1409 |

The 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing is fast approaching. Wonder if there will be an issue to honor it. |

danstamps54,
I am glad you like it. The reason you mention is the reason I bought the cover. I didnt pay attention to cancellation, since it was obviously prefabricated. It is only interesting why and how it went to retail. Maybe it didnt go to retail, but somebody decided not to destroy some of it and took it as a souvenir. |

Apollo 11 Cover is backstamped January 30, 1970, at White Plains, N.Y. Most of these mailed, registered, souvenir covers did not take that long to get to their destinations. |

Did you miss the announcement ? A very controversial stamp will be issued July 19th 2019.
