Higher percentages have been the trend for the last several decades. I remember when it was only 10%.

I bid with an auction house in Germany for some material because it is simply not available from auction houses in the USA. The German auction house charges 23.8% as the basic rate. Then add to that 2 euros per lot; 7% additional for some lots (something to do with local importation regulations), 3% for using a credit card and on top of all that shipping and postage.

That's why I can't afford 12 meter yacht racing.
