My Great grandfather FO Gardiner was a calligraphy teacher at Stockton buisness college known now as Heald Buisness college
He and his friends around 1880-1936 would send specimen to each other .
They would ask for a autograph to show how well there penmanship was
The drawings and writings my great grandfather and his students drew remind me of the lines on well made stamps
One of the attractions at the in and around turn of the century was FO Gardiner writing your name on a buisiness card
