For me the guilty pleasure falls in my topical collection - Scouts on Stamps. I even include all the wallpaper, CTOs, etc. - the junk issued that wasn't really used for postage.

My more serious collecting areas are:
MNH U.S. stamps (to 2005);
Stamps, postal stationery, and covers pertaining to Esperanto and other artificial international languages (I even have an Esperanto cover bearing a couple of shermae's Polish dinosaurs!);
Stamps etc. depicting runes and runic monuments;
Stamps etc. pertaining to J.R.R. Tolkien (though I've set limits on stuff related to the Peter Jackson films).

The last of those areas bleeds into the realm of my "guilty pleasures," namely stamps etc. with pop culture topics that interest me. The guiltiest of these guilty pleasures (for which I still feel very little guilt) would have to be stamps depicting sexy actresses and models. If I'm a fan of the celebrity and I like the design, it's fair game, even if it's wallpaper "issued" by some postal non-entity. A Cindy Crawford mini-sheet from Kyrgyzstan? A Jennifer Love Hewitt mini-sheet from Somalia? An Eliza Dushku FDC from the Democratic Republic of the Congo? Yeah, I had to buy all of those.

Shermae, I was. I earned my Eagle at the age of 16 in 1985. Many fond memories.

Floortrader --
I read once there a dentist in US some place (New Jersey?) who amassed an almost compete w/w collection, worth about $1 million.
He must have employed agents to buy stuff for him, and got someone to do some of the sorting.
Unless he retired young ...

Guilty of buying zeppelin covers and having them sent to my work address so my wife doesn't see them. New pleasure is airmail covers from mid 20'to mid 40s. Not for the flights but for the border and other designs.

I collect the Postmaster Commission documents. Some issued by the Postmaster General...

This one is for Hopkins Hapgood, postmaster at Petersham, MA.

Others by the President....

This one is for George Dudley, Postmaster at West Winstead, CT.

Yep, and not even in the lead role. I tend to gravitate toward B and C-list celebrities....

I tend to gravitate to stamp auctions looking for what is unusual and hasn't been sold for years .What other collectors don't see .
