Can Anyone Identify This Building?

I'm currently trying to establish whether the scene depicted on a vintage postcard is in Australia or not. The only part of the photo that provides potentially useful information is what seems to be a kind of canteen at the left of the picture. I think it reads thus:

Has anyone seen this building before?

Judging from what appears to be the automobiles in the picture you are talking 20's maybe 30's.

Jimjamtwo, Gentle suggestion ... while you may believe the building is the best clue to ID this card, please post full scans of both the front and the back sides. Who knows what others clues might trigger a positive result. You might be surprised. And I agree with the direction No1philatelist is going ... cars are often very useful ID clues.

I'd suggest that the license plates on the cars might be the best clues. Not helpful for me, but perhaps for someone...

My hope is that it's a well-known beach adjacent to a big city that may appear on postcards.

It to me looks like a pre-wedding outing. There seems to be a groom and a best man with carnations on their lapels. Very few women, so the women were presumably off with the bride at their own outing. If this was a preferred site for such outings, it might be well-known to the inhabitants of the nearby cities or towns.

Something 'INGTON', not sure of Australian places, possibly Wellington (NZ)or kensington (not nz)? Great pic though.

Mornington! So somewhere on the Mornington Peninsula (Victoria). Most of the postcards in the lot the photo came from are from Victoria, so it would make sense.

Cars are often better than women. A readable license plate can give country, state, year data. Reading a woman ... well, I won't go there!

I suspect the the "3 45" is a March 1945 processing date. Are there other photos in the pile from the same batch which are identifiable?

"3 45" may be the processing date, but the photo is pre-WWII IMHO. Style of clothing, autos are from early thirties at the latest.

I agree the cars and clothing style may appear to be earlier - judging against U.S. standards, but what were Australia standards and styles? 1930's cars were all that were available through the WWII years.

The broader point still being ... are there other photos with the same backmarks in the pile? Look at all the clues.

No, there are no others like this in the lot. The rest consists of normal postcards and postal stationery cards.

I also feel sure it's pre-WW2.

Wrong dating. Based on the women's fashions... note hats... styles are pre-1935 -- probably 1932-34, based on the wide brims on both women's hats, as well as the men's hats. Also, the cars are all pre-1940 models.
