Good luck with that,
India Pmks are a life study, then there are the poor impressions.
Only one that yells at me is the 3 Pice Queen Victoria Grey Bridge type.
DARJEELING
West Bengal. Tea, and summer resort of the elite.

One anna Queen Victoria Rose 3 pice
KAMPTEE is a suburb of Nagpur city and a municipal council in Nagpur district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

Thank you, Rod. I too thought Darjeeling, but in a case such as this a second opinion is valuable. Hope others will offer theirs.

As for the difficulty of the enterprise: I feared as much. But it proves the interest (i.e., value) of stamps that may have little or no monetary worth.

Kamptee and Beawar: excellent. Both fit well. I'm mainly looking for uses of Indian stamps in other countries (e.g., Iran, Iraq, Aden, et al.), but any ID here is satisfying. Thanks again.

Regarding the difficulty, it comes to mind of the latest Film "Lion"
A 5 year old boy gets lost in India (True story)
He knows his town is called "Ganesh Tedi" but carers are unable to find it.
(Granted it was c1000Km away)
He is adopted by an Tasmanian couple (Australia)
and 26 years later finds his home and mother via GOOGLE MAPS
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saroo_Brierley

Saroo = Sheroo = Lion

The Billig's Handbooks are new to me. Will hunt around for affordable copies.

Your idea of Srinigar for the postal stationary is very appealing. Kashmir is something a bit out of the ordinary.

Here, I believe, are Muscat and Pondicherry (French India). The third I'd like to be Mohammera (Iran). What do you think?

Finally, two others that have perplexed me.
Eric

Nine Pies Rose - UMBALLA

Half Anna PS cutout - CHANDER NAGAR (I think not Srinagar)

12 Annas - QUETTA

Last group:

Four Annas 6 Pies - MUSCAT

One Anna Plum - PONDICHERRY

2 Annas 6 pies - MOHAMMERAH

One Anna Edward VII - FORT-BOMBAY

Wonderful. I did think that someone in the UK might chime in eventually. You and Rod have been a great help. I'll post more of these from time to time and hope I may hear from you again.

And Rod, your Rangoon is very nice, but I envy you the Bagdad. The sort of thing I'm hoping to find.

Eric,
Rangoon and Bagdad are not that scarce.
albeit, with the advent of the internet, as information becomes more available,
(Like our constant ID of material on SCF)
Collectors are becoming more savvy, and the "used abroads" surface in bulk lots less frequently.

15 years ago, you could buy a bag of India for pennies, which included some "used abroads"

You are 2 up on me with your Muscat and Iran !

Rod, is the page you posted from Billig's Vol. 40, sub-vol.III?

And, is anyone still willing to strain his/her eyes on these two?
