[Guy Guynemer was a pilot and top Ace, with the French Army working alongside the RFC clearing the skies above Flanders during the battle of Passchendaele where he was shot down].

...Wondering how many of these still stood AFTER ww 2.....

Almost all the large permanent memorials survived The second world war. SOme monuments were attacked by German soldiers but not many. Some got damaged in fighting. The British empire Commonwealth war grave commision sites in France and Belgium are still maintained by the Commission and the individual headstone have all been replaced at least three times since the 1920s.Tyne cot is the biggest cemetery in the world as far as numbers buried. there are even a handful of Germans there, presumably because they were originally buried there in the conflict or died in the block house that was incorporated into part of one of the bigger elements of the place.

This one looks like a set up for a memorial service of some kind with the organ and chairs all set up on the stage but it seemed strange that that monument appears to be on the stage also.
I would love to know the location and date.

Hitler ordered that WW1 monuments and Graveyards were not to be desecrated. As he served in the trenches in WWI I guess he still had some respect for those who fought during that conflict.

... as long as they weren't German Jews, of course. He ordered the memorial to Edith Cavell in the Tuilleries to be destroyed.
