Anyone else out there collecting used stamps according to the date they were cancelled (as shown in a circular date stamp - CDS)? I've been building a collection based on a calendar with a used stamp for each day. The ultimate would be a bullseye (or Sock-on-the-nose) cancel but for my collection as long as the date is legible, it gets added to my calendar. I've seen the other forum threads where people highlight the beautiful SON/SOTN/Bullseye cancels they have found but I didn't see anyone mentioning collecting them on a calendar.
Just curious if there are others out there trying to fill a calendar and maybe have some duplicate dates to trade??
Regards,
Joe

Seen this done with common small and large queen stamps, and jubilee issue of Canada. Any common definitive issue should be good for this as long as you can find a supply of them. As well it is almost impossible to get the nice round ring cancel SON since the much used machine cancels are everywhere. You did not mention if you were doing it country specific or worldwide. |

My collection is worldwide.
There are certain countries definitive stamps that get added in quite often (Germany, Sweden, etc) as they are widely available and often cancelled with the CDS on the stamp.
My preference is for SOTN with city legible as well as date.
If I have a choice between a small definitive or a larger commemorative I usually pick the less often seen commemoratives.
Same goes for country variety - If a month is full of German stamps and I have the option to fill a date with a stamp from a different country I will do so.
I mount the stamps so that the date is right side up (so some stamps are mounted upside down).
I'm just using a homemade 7X5 printed grid for my calendar months.
I've just started pulling this together so I'm looking forward to when I can actually complete a whole month.
Looking for any other collectors doing something similar so we can compare notes. |

Agreed - That Sc# 10/11 calendar is amazing!
Chasa - I'll send you an e-mail. Maybe I can put together a page of duplicates I have from the 1920s to see if you need any. |

Whoops. I just found out the 'e-mail' link doesn't work for me as I am a 'new' user.
Chasa - if you are interested in seeing what I have from the 1920's, maybe you can e-mail me?

Joe,
The email system will not work in either direction until you reach 50 legit posts. Just be patient. You are at 37 posts, 13 more and you open the email door. 3 to 10 days and you should be there.

StateRevs - I've been focused on postage stamps and hadn't even considered revenues. Now I need to go dig up that pile of revenues I put aside somewhere and see what I can come up with.
BTW - the collection is impressive! I like the presentation too. |

The pages are simply Calendar Creator Pro printed landscape.
Allowed me to put a starting date in and it automatically printed the range for me.
Haven't used it since 1996 or so - you may have to look for some other calendar program, but they are definitely no fuss, no muss pages! |

I should've looked into a calendar program. My homemade pages pale in comparison... |
