Thanks for sharing that cover here Bobby De La Rue - a good example of White's R28. Another image (source not noted by me):  Newtown follows the White R28 format with REGISTERED across the top - I wonder if mine is QUIRINDI REGISTERED across the top with N.S.W at the base. Hard to find another - hopefully someone will track down an example, perhaps even a different town in the same format as mine. |

Looks like the smudged markings of the Parcel Post N24 canceller but it seems there's letters hiding on this one. Maybe '...MBE....' Any ideas from members here?  |

It doesn't ring any bells FDS.
It's too late to be a straight line registered marking I would've thought.
It certainly gives every impression of lettering though! |

Hey guys, I've been staring at the above postmark for a couple days now and I think the word maybe looks like 'Jamboree' - Maybe its a philatelic cancel related to boy scouts? A google check shows that the first world scout jamboree happened in London around 1920 - is it possible these stamps may have been placed on an envelope and cancelled at that jamboree event? And then soaked off later? |

Just to add to the confusion, there's a town in New South Wales called Jamberoo!
If it does say Jamboree, it would be VERY late use of the stamps. It's the format of the cancellation that throws me off. The possibility must exist that it's a foreign cancellation. |

'NEW SOUTH WALES' at the base and probably SYDNEY at top, I'm not sure of the type - it doesn't appear in John S. White's illustrated Sydney types. Does anyone have the full postmark to show?  |

That's a Sydney newspaper cancellation FDS, White N5   I had another look at the shilling 'roo pair. Are we sure it's not a parcel roller cancellation? The fact that it's a shilling 'roo pair does add weight. Based on the dates White offers, it would fit the time period too I think. |

I still don't know if the roos cancellation is Parcel Post N24 - that was my first thought but the markings look so much like letters!

I spent half an hour trying to identify the postmark, while failing to notice the "JI" at top left. fairdinkumstamps ought to be a setter of cryptic crosswords.
