Floortrader:

What happened to you at that High School stamp club meeting? I've been to a few dealers over the years, but never a club or even a show. I guess I know 'stamp collectors' are a bit of a weird breed but since I don't actually know too many, the others like me haven't bothered me much :-))))))

Jamesg ---It was the Ogden Hills Stamp Club ,this was the club that started COMPEX in Chicago ,I believe I am the last surviving member of the club . I was 17 and all the other guys were 55 and above in 1966 .Learned a lot from those guys .

One side story here ---

One of the main club members was a German fellow , he sold his German stamp collection and purchased a bright red new Chevy car and had the whole club come outside to see his new car . So years later as a commodity broker, I caught the Soybean market on the break from $12.00 a bushel all the way down to $8.00. Made my first big trade ,so what did I do with that money ?
I purchased a German stamp collection equal to the price of a new Chevy and over the years added more so that collection will buy me a new Chevy. Kind of a piss -on -you attitude for the rest of my life .LOL
