I purchased what I thought to be an authentic stamp not necessarily as an investment, rather because I'm attempting to complete my grandfathers 1952 National Album that I inherited many years back. I know that the price of many stamps has declined since the 1980's and view stamp collecting as more of a hobby. My comment about experience buying and selling on ebay pertains more towards buying items other than stamps. This is my first experience encountering a Scammer and obviously a good one at that. I'll attempt to receive a full refund from ebay and let everyone know of my outcome. Prior to placing my bid, I researched Siegel's auctions online and saw that this #120a stamp had consistently sold between $2,000 - $4,000 over the past 10 years. Therefore, I felt that my final bid was realistic and wasn't a "too good to be true" purchase.

I was asking a simple question in the event someone has a compiled list rather than everyone having to search through threads and posts to find what would be very valuable information. But ok. Thanks for the tip.

Anyways, if anyone does have a compiled list, including some that may not be listed in the threads, I'd love a copy.

And Mongoose, sorry to hear of all this hassle...I hope this is resolved to your satisfaction. I have found that most ebay buyers and sellers are honest folks. It's the few bad-apples (some very very rotten ones, clearly) that can tarnish the experience.

Edit: I see the reply that I was replying to was deleted so my initial paragraph will seem out of context.

What would be helpful to the general reader who doesn't collect US stamps (e.g., me) would be a short explanation of the potential problems with the stamp - e.g., I see the reperf, is there also a pressed-out grill, for example? - and the view of a market price for the item.

Based on the strength of the image, it is very possible that it is a proof that has added perfs on all four sides.

It does exist as a small die proof on white wove paper; that only cats $450. So perforating it and selling it for $3600.......

This specific stamp has never been sent to the PF or sold by Siegel.

I've mailed it back registered and received confirmation from Linda that she would provide me with a full refund upon receipt. I'm a bit skeptical after reading the horrific stories about "the Cartel" on this forum.

I'll provide an update when I know more.

How many ebay accounts do you have? The winner of the 120A is a different account than the seller of the 213B.

So actually the stamp was bought from the same account. Perhaps bought on a second chance offer?

I have just one ebay account. The #120a was purchased by me when the seller offered a second chance offer. I'm sure she has multiple accounts, pumped up the price, and then sold it to me as a second chance offer. At the time I was excited, but now I just feel very gullible.
