The more I read in the forum, the more evidence I see of a bifurcation in the hobby. Clearly the hot area is WW collections, or single country collections. I only chase complete sets, or singles I need to complete sets. I see some competition on SAN-listed auctions, but in general pricing isn't particularly strong or trending upward.

The question is, I suppose, why, given that most modern stamps have value chiefly as discount postage, you wouldn't hinge them.

Interesting, I see your point (and the other guy's now). I'll still claim I saved gobs of time transfering page after page in. Hinging is faster and easier than mounts, but it still more time than sliding things into place. Yeah, preserving "value" of face-value-- stamps seems silly now that you guys mention it. Still, I would feel funny placing a hinge on a NH stamp. I've done it, but it feels funny. Likely just me :).
