I think this is related, but I'm new and hope I'm not breaking any courteous rules. I have some approval material showing a Jamaica MR3 (versus MR2), which is supposed to be on surface-colored paper.

The item offered has paper colored yellow on both sides. Wouldn't surface colored indicate the back should be; well, not exactly white but the off-white of the other MR issues?

I have MR2 and its paper is yellow both sides.

Thanks!

That's also my understanding of surface colored, but I'm certainly no expert in identifying paper color. Can you post pictures of front and back?

The Arms series can be an interesting area to study. I have found the most detail in the Commonwealth Five Reigns Catalogue which unfortunately was last printed in 1980. Here is a web page that I compiled using the details from the Commonwealth Catalogue. It also shows the relative Gibbons and Scott numbers.

Jehencke, you are correct. The MR2 will have the yellow paper on both sides and is quite obvious next to the MR3 with surface-colored paper. Scans show a pretty clear difference for some reference.
