Stating that grading and centering are one and the same is simply not true and shows an ignorance of what grading involves. Anyone that wants to get a better sense of the many variables involved in establishing a grading value should read the following:

Metric is decimal numerical.

I doubt that. Assigning a numerical grade is a North American habit. In Europe, we do not have such grading. At best, stamps are qualified as good, fine, very fine, superb, or something similar.
MNH, or unmounted mint is the state in which the stamp is.

Certificates may state the stamp is mounted or unmounted and that it has no faults, but they won't even state whether it is good, fine, very fine or superb.

Consequently, it is of little use to have European and European colonies stamps graded.
