Spain certainly had some excellent engravers but what I really enjoy is the amazing colour combinations the printer came up with using just 2 colours on many stamps. Nice scans KuoLC5310. Looking at the 1982 Stamp Day it appears offset/litho and actually Scott states it is Litho.  Maybe the black lettering/lines are recess and the rest litho? |

Lithograving: Thank you for your comments.
For the Spain 1982 Stamp Day stamp, one catalog I use states that it is printed in offset lithography and recess, and the Stamp Engravers website I use lists Julian Gonzalez de la Lastra as the engraver.
It is possible that the text of the stamp was engraved separately, but I did not find any information to confirm this. The background of this stamp is clearly printed in offset lithography, therefore the engraver may have worked on the main motif (particularly those volcanoes in the center of Tenerife). |
