Three On Stamps.3!

This 32c commemorative stamp (Sc #3184h) of the USA is from the 1998 "Celebrate the Century - 1920's" sheet of 15 different designs. Inscription on the back of the stamp states, "Caricaturist John Held Jr. portrayed the fun-loving, escapist lifestyle of the Roaring Twenties. His drawings of young women called flappers symbolized the decade."

From wikipedia, John Held Jr. (1889-1958) was an American cartoonist, printmaker, illustrator, sculptor and author. One of the best known magazine illustrators of the 1920's, his most popular works were his uniquely styled cartoons."

Two of the four values from Berlin's April 14, 1988 Youth Services charity set feature musical trios. The 50 + 25 (pf) stamp (Mi #807) depicts a piano terzet (classical trio), and the 70 + 35 (pf) stamp (Mi #809) shows a guitar, mandolin and recorder.

On October 8, 1996 the USA released its "Family Scenes" Christmas stamps in three formats: 1.) sheet of 50 stamps (10 x 5) of 4 different designs with water-activated gum, 2.) booklet of 20 stamps, same designs as previous with self-adhesive gum, and 3.) atm/vending machine booklet of 18 stamps of a single, different design (2 skaters) but in the same style, imperforate with self-adhesive gum.

Two of the stamps with water-activated gum (Sc #s 3108-9) and from the booklet of 20 (Sc #s 3113-4) depict three people. Colors are more noticeably different on the "fireside" design.

This April 30, 1984, 2.40 markka stamp ((Facit #944) of Finland commemorates the centenary of the Finnish Labor Movement. Stamp shows two men inspecting while a third is doing abrasive work on the blade of a Kaplan hydraulic turbine.

Here is the 15 (pf) value (Mi #1394) from the DDR's August 20, 1968 set of 6 stamps showing paintings from the State Art Collection's New Masters Gallery in Dresden. Stamp depicts Austrian painter Albin Egger-Lienz's (1868-1925) Mountain Farmers Mowing.

Here is a French entry from 2002 depicting "a great summer" as photographed in 1955 in Saint-Brevin-les-Pins. Back before helmets.... This is Y&T 3521 (Sc.2915a) from a set of five stamps comprising "Everyday Life, Photos of the French."
