Big Country Collections: Where To Sell?

Bidders on ebay really like US collections squeezed into abridged albums. Here are some pics from a collection on International pages that I sold a few months ago;








This collection isn't much different than the OP's collection and I sold the regular issue portion of this collection for $3250 and with the back of the book the total was around $4,000. I think the OP's collection would sell in this ball park.

I started my auctions at $2.59 and scanned every page, if the OP does the same I think he should have good results.

ebay buyers are

IMO in this market even newbies can get decent returns by listing collections on ebay now using the auction format. There is great interest in decent collections and if a person can find a way to include a reasonable number of pictures and start the auction at a low price people will bid.

I like to buy collections on ebay for 2 reasons; 1st no buyers commission and secondly lots of pictures. However I won't bid in auctions that are getting 40 or 50 bids, that's amateur hour and the final price is usually too high, but it's great for the sellers.

If you want to sell to a dealer make a listing of the collection with Scott cat. It doesn't have to be the newest cat. A listing with values and Scott numbers will probably bring you more money when you sell. The dealer can make spotchecks to verify the accuracy of your listing. Never had problems with a dealer and you get your money quickly with no assles. Advice don't go on ebay unless you want to start a business. Daniel

Your advice seems to be contrary to everyone else's above including direct experience.
