McDonald Co. seceded from Missouri in protest of being left off the official state highway map in 1961. A very fun issue! I'd show you mine if I could. |

Here are the pictures of the Mcdonald County stamps and the visa they issued to people passing through. Letters with Mcdonald Co. stamps (accompanied bu regular U.S. postage) were sent to the Governor and legislators. many Mc.D. citizens also posted mail with the stamps attached, but few survived. If Darrell, my stamp collecting friend here locally, finds the cover he has I will post it. It is amazing that this all happened so recently and few even heard of it. This all took place in 1961! I have the article from Linn's but I don't know if I can copy it to the forum. It is probably copyrighted. |

I know I've seen a few covers with McDonald stamps on them on ebay over the past few years. I'm too lazy to go look right now, but there might just be one or two there now. I know that Roy Lingen has them just about every time he puts a new batch up on his site. -Allen |

There was a fully illustrated article last year in the American Philatelist about McDonald Co. Mo. and the stamps - I am at work now, so don't know the exact month. |

Well, here is the cover I promised. This one has a different colored label. I have recently learned that they were printed in several colors. If anyone has any of the other printings I would like to see them . Dean |

Hi nic, was recently going to post a piece of trivia on the philippines, and have completely forgotton what it was, ( a senior moment)
Bumbunga is an Australian Aboriginal word
H.M. Cooper of the SA Museum said it meant 'by, near or at the lake', while N.B. Tindale, anthropologist, said the name was derived from parnpangka - 'rain water lake'.
