I collect 1847's and 1851's - that's where my passion is. I hang on to all kinds of other things that come my way - I love Pan-Ams and Trans-Misses (turn of the century), but also the offsets and imperfs of the W-Fs (1910-1920's).

Even though Scott has their Classic Catalogue which covers 1840-1940, I kinda think of classis as up to the 1857 series. I would normally say up to 1851, but the 1857's are the 1851's, but perforated. I've never really thought about it before, but the term 'classic' is ill-defined WRT philately. Somebody upthread said that some people would define it as the imperforate era. I may very well be in that group. Silly me.
