Giving stamps of a face value of around sixpence would have been a bit embarrassing so they got a rather nice design and shoved a one pound sign on it (180 times the normal postage rate... around 90 pounds in todays money). Some WERE sold...not all went to delegates. Under 70,000 were sold I believe. Heavy overseas registered packages would be the only postal use, I suspect.
Rationalizing, of course, all the above makes me feel better about not having one
