Perf12 is right; my OP cancel is indeed a type 34. The site he provides also has a nice image of the other type that Floortrader mentions.

Thanks again, Moose, for all that information. I've seen that there were over thirty stations along the railway, though it seems that only five had post offices: the larger ones no doubt. I'm curious to know the location of my number six cancel, hoping for Famagusta, as my ship made stops there back in the day.

Hy-brasil: the Robson Lowe volumes (seemingly a vast number of them) do seem on the spendy side; glad to know you feel they're worth it. Some at least appear to be cloth bound, which also helps. How do the two versions differ?

Emaxim --Thanks .....I believe anyone looking for these Railway cancellations would be better off looking for them with the Cyprus collectors who specialize in Rural Postal Agencies .

These Rural Postal cancels{R.P.C.} came some 20 years before the railroad cancels . My guess is these R.P.C. were more common having been canceled at the receiving Post Office in the large villages and towns ,so there was no reason for the railroads to cancel the mails with a railway cancel. Here below is the cancels type that really was more common if the railroad carried the mail .
I believe those stations on the rail line were already established as Rural Post offices or had that cancel device many years earlier than the Rail cancel was started .

Managed to find the details, and this is according to the Cyprus Study Circle.

1 = Angastina
2 = Famagusta
4 = Kokkinotrimithia
5 = Dhenia
6 = Peristerona (Nicosia district)
7 = Trachoni
10 = Prastio

Later cancellers with R.P.O and number but also with date slug are not from the same towns

R.P.O No1 with date = Famagusta (Single circle date stamp)
R.P.O. No2 with date = Famagusta (double circle date stamp)
R.P.O. No3 with date = Nicosia (double circle date stamp)
R.P.O. No4 with date = Morphou (double circle date stamp)

In hs book, Cyprus 1353-1986 Rev. Wilfrid T.F. Castle mentions that at time of publishing only 91 complete covers showing R.P.O cancels had been documented. I am not sure what the current census is.
Cancels on stamps and pieces are more easily found but do command a premium
