Thread was locked because we disallow selling until members have 50+ posts. Obviously if we allowed people to use the community for self-serving purposes it would eventually collapse. By having a 50+ post rule also allows everyone get to know each other. Of course we have previously had people think themselves clever and attempt various work-arounds such as making threads and post sound like they are here for reasons beyond self serving ones. If the staff feels something like this is going on we will address the situation. Also note, removing the staff's edits in your posts is not recommended, this was another reason your thread was removed. It was my opinion that you were skirting the rules and I was not going to burn more time on the thread that was promoting selling your material. You have been on the edge of what is permissible. I suggest that you simply enjoy the community for now and avoid anything that sounds like you are promoting selling. Don |

Don, I am sorry I/we got off on the wrong foot with each other. I now understand why certain portions of my posts were deleted and I have no problem with that. "Also note, removing the staff's edits in your posts is not recommended" and to this, all I was just trying to do was to clean up my posts so they looked better. As to my collection of stamps, I am still trying to get a handle on what I have and trying to get more knowledge of them and to see who else collects them. I was referred to this site by several people on a currency forum which I am a member. My main interest is fractional notes of which the first issue is postage currency which is made to look like stamps (one of my favorite examples is shown below). I had posted a link to my web site which I designed and did all the source code but which you deleted. That site is purely educational and not meant for sales or trying to take anyone away from this site. I have been upfront and not trying to be devious. If you prefer, I can drop out from your membership if you think I am a distraction. Sorry for any problems. |

No worries. I am not a mind reader and can only determine a new member's intentions from a handful of initial posts. As such, I try to give everyone the benefit of doubt.
The link was removed due to the rule 'no drive-by links'. We get a lot of people who join only to promote their website and generate traffic. Asking that folks accumulate 50 posts before posting links eliminates this problem.
This is a good community, and you are certainly welcome here; Kirk and I donate our time here as Moderators and do the best we can with what are sometimes difficult judgements and decisions. Don |

My web site is not "a drive by link" to generate traffic. It is purely an educational web site on Postage Currency and fractional currency. There is no fees generated by this site. In fact, I pay a fee for the domain name and a fee to host this site so I make no money but want people to learn about this area of collecting. Did you even look at that site before deleteing it?
By the way, I tried searching this community for a thread on Poastal Currency and find no reference to it. I may have been looking the wrong way since I am new to the community. If there is a thread, please show me where it is. I can add a lot of information on it if it exixts. Thank you. |

Sigh. So your position is that we should invest significant time checking out every link posted by digging into it to see if there is any affiliate links or other 'less than obvious' traffic generating revenue going on? And then deal with whining like 'hey, you allowed XYZ site to be linked but not my site..."?? The rules are simple and everyone else follows them; generating 50 posts only requires that folks spend a bit of time in the community. Pushing back is lame, I suggest that you simply enjoy the community and follow the rules. If this is not for you, I understand if you move on. Don |

If you look closely at revenues of this sort, you'll start making numismatic connections. For instance, some of the portraits on these beer stamps also appear on Treasury bond coupons. There's a lot of good stuff in this thread you might enjoy: https://goscf.com/t/40533 |
