Rod,
Are you batching individual scans or extracting a bunch from a single scan?
If the first, the fix is the threshold setting, probably around 50.
If the second, try raising the minimum box incrementally until all that's left is a box around the entire stamp/label. Or try the same threshold fix. |

Rod,
I should mention, what I usually do is separate the stamps using a threshold of about 50 to get a more accurate extraction, then go to the naming screen and reprocess them all with a threshold of 100 to tighten them up. |

Rod, That an arrival cancel from the Berlin 43 post office. The VIII denotes that this was the eighth cancel of the same design used at that location. If I'm reading my sources correctly, the post office would have been probably been in this building -- I can't be 100% sure, as the post-WWII reconstruction moved some streets and renamed many. |

Thank you Postmaster. Quote: The VIII denotes that this was the eighth cancel of the same design used at that location. That solved my query. |

Hi Looking for some help in identifying these German postage paid labels. They came in a large lot I purchased and I am not familiar with them nor have I been able to find them in my Michel catalogs. Thanks Rich |

These are in your Michel catalog under Lokalausgaben/local issues. They were unauthorized and listed under Halle. |

Rod, 5 Pf piece -- there were about 15 different postcards of this design, and it's impossible to tell which one this came from without the rest of the card. Cancel is "Warmbrünn **b". 2 Pf piece -- Same here. There were about 6 of this design. Postmark is "SCHÖNEBERG bei Berlin 1 a". I don't think the revenue is AF20. It's difficult to see in the Erler scan, but there's a design change from AF1-19 to AF20-43. The earlier issues say "DEUTSCHES ZOLLGEBIET" at the top, while AF20-43 say "DEUTSCHES REICH". It's either AF1 (no watermark), AF10 (watermark, dark blue), or AF15 (watermark, gray blue). Click to enlarge |

Attended to..... 1. Pays due regard to the Identifier, and their time spent. 2. I get great satisfaction flipping through my Ephemera "Back of Book" pages, of all the junk, pieces, scraps and postmarks. Instant ID for lots of weird stuff. Takes just a few minutes to place in my generic pages. |

I feel like I am treading previous ground, so apologies if so, I have searched my entire stamp collection without success. 2 Items (spelling mistake on image) Unknown PERFIN bottle, Pmk Rudesheim (Wine making area) Remains of a Pictormark Postmark as well. Consulting other posts on this, I gather a "knock off" due to not being a 10x5 sheet. Would this be correct? Thanks for assistance. |
