Here's mine, where the scans have come from. Cloth bound and gilt. Tatty, empty and adorable No need for checklists and spreadsheets in those days. Just take your album and catalogue in one volume to the stamp shop with you!

Heeeey! Nice one,
mine is brown leatherette, same design.

Yep, today you would be lucky to fit an entire Ghana
collection in it.

Wow! that has to be the Pièce de résistance.
That's beautiful.
I note the globe surrounded by people of the
four corners of the earth.
The globe is framed by the olive leaf of peace, and the holly of immortality.

Nice one Mr. Lincoln.T.H. Hinton of Chelsea

My bad. I should have said, this one isn't a Lincoln. It's by T.H. Hinton of Chelsea

Wow, this has turned out to be a great thread! My first album was called an "Explorer" like Rod's, but I remember it having a similar, but coloured picture on the front and was paperback. Sadly I do not have it anymore... :(

Really nice looking old albums. I have not seen those before.

I think that a lot of the old albums covers are quite ornate, a lot better than most modern albums.

Great topic.

Cheap, but not unattractive This one was my sister's. Captain Bligh looking very effeminate in the early 1950's! Produced by Thomas Cliffe Ltd, the makers of the fantastic "XLCR" Stamp Finder, which was my bible when I was a kid.

Ah Yes, I recall the Excelsior (XLCR) stamp finder,

I preferred the "Seven Seas" who had the courage
to show the world a very little known fact.

When Armstrong landed on the moon, he found Ponce de Leon
had beaten him there by 500 years!
Here is the proof from Fujeira

Interesting material showing up here.

These old albums and stamp finders have to be collectibles all on their own. I have to ask the question, how strong is the market on such items?

Great stuff

Items like these show up once and a while at our club auctions. Even the ones in great shape don't attract much attention.
