Not the same degree as others; kind of important documents;no money involved. Sent a certified letter (with tracking). Tracking said it arrived at destination, waiting to go out for delivery, then nothing.
Called the number given for lost items. They got back to me, "Yea, we lost it.
The end.

Rogdcam - the countries adding bar codes to their stamps are certainly headed towards universal tracking. I'm supportive of the shift for that reason alone.

Bob - Amen. I wonder if the codes will be used on postage labels as well?

There was a time when loss of registered mail coming from Europe through New York was an issue for me, but I've had very few problems with the USPS losing things in recent years. I get a considerable amount of stuff from ebay and Delcampe via USPS (some by registered mail, most not), and the last purchase that didn't reach me was a $7 postal card that I bought in March 2022 from a seller in India. My previous no-show was a similarly low-value postal card, mailed within the U.S. in the early weeks of the 2020 lockdown.

I'm having trust issues. Last year some stamps were sent in a rigid mailer, and it arrived with a corner torn and the stamps which were in a 102-card missing.

Send everything in boxes with something inside that rattles, with the label "DANGER! Live rattlesnakes. DO NOT OPEN!"

Last year, I made the mistake of sending my brother a sizeable bank check in the mail (Priority Express) from one city in Florida to another. He should have received it the next day. After a week we started an inquiry. The paper trail said the item reached his post office the next day. After 2 weeks it showed up. Unbelievably his units postmaster called him and explained that the postal employee who was processing the item, apparently left it on his own workstation and bolted for a 2 week vacation. It just sat there waiting for anyone to grab it. My brother asked if this person would be reprimanded in anyway. The PM wouldn't answer that question.

So no pride in one's work, and possibly, no consequences for big screwups.

The only positive was that when such a thing happens you get a refund of the Priority Express price paid.

I have trust issues with the USPS, because the service is not what it used to be. ***Please refrain from partisan political comments, they tend to derail thread and start arguments.***

It's a sad world we live in. Thank goodness we have philately to turn to.

It then becomes a private personnel issue.

Conversely, if a member of the public complained about your job performance and you were disciplined, would you expect the complainer to be told anything about it? Of course not.
