45 hours is well within the bounds of possibility for all ground. Certain high school and college road trips come to mind. Regardless, you're paying for a minimum level of service, so if they find it efficient to combine a ground shipment with a scheduled air movement, they can do it this time and not the next time.

I, for one rely on ebay feedback.

I get it, that it may be flawed,
but flawed feedback is better than no feedback at all.

cjpalermo1964: I checked various mapping websites and they do mention about 45 hours driving time from my origin to the destination, but there's no way a human could stay awake for 45 hours and drive straight from point a to point b without a break, let alone the USPS Semi-Trucks. I know truckers have to follow laws that limit daily driving time.

USPS uses UPS to carry the long distance (more than about 250 miles) First Class and Express mail between cities, just the same way that mail used to go on trains between cities. UPS does nothing other than load the containers on the planes and take them off at the other end. USPS gets them to/from the airports.

rogdcam: Interesting. I've had packages take twice as long to go 800 road miles retail ground vs 2600 road miles.

Although a lot of posts are critical of USPS, I do think they deserve a positive review for the speed of delivering a retail ground package 2600 road miles in just under two days and also on a holiday.

Travel time really depends on which vehicle the USPS chooses to use as well as the what is available regionally. Below is one of the local Express Mail Delivery Vehicles used in my rural area. Priority-Express when it really needs to get there overnight

Yes, your basic carrier delivery Jeep with a few more window and body decals than normal and

Of course if overnight is too slow for you out here in Industrial Light & Magic land for an extra fee, your package will be delivered yesterday with this vehicle:

Not when they pull a gigawatt. See my edit above while you were posting you comment.

Now the question is how many gigawatts can the frail California Electric Grid support?

Having driven both ICE and EV "hotrods" I can attest that the experience is much more awesome with the ICE machine. My opinion of course and you will disagree. The sound, smoke and feel of a supercharged smokin' hotrod just cannot be beat. EV torque is awesome but every EV kind of has the same cookie cutter experience. Very homogeneous. And the coefficient of drag of most EV's so far has made them a bit vanilla. (looking at you Mercedes) That may change with the new Dodge products. EV Redeye anyone?

I am still in love with our 'transplant**' car after two years of ownership. 180MPH, 30 MPG, 50 cubic feet of cargo space, a real usable back seat. 310 HP and a 6 speed that makes me want to smoke a cigarette every time I finish driving it.
At >120 MPH this car literally sits down on the road (70 pounds of down force from the spoiler) and feels just as safe as 65 MPH. Holds most road track records in its class across the world.

And best of all, instead of depreciating like most new cars this one has actually appreciated in value and is now worth $6k more than I paid for it new. The current Type Rs are being sold by Honda dealers for $25k over their own MSRP.

Here it is parked in parking lot of our stamp club meeting location. Being an old school car restorer, I was tempted to go with what I know best for keeping it polished and clean (carnauba wax). But instead opted for one of the new ceramic coatings and am so glad I did. Put the base coat on last year and it is holding up great; looking to get at least 5 more years from this coating.

At the hotrod end of the spectrum, quite likely, but at the normal coupe/hatchback passenger vehicle end of the spectrum IMO the exact opposite is true.

For several years I owned a 2012 Chevrolet Volt that I bought secondhand (no way I could afford a new one), and the acceleration off the line was astounding compared to 4-cylinder ICE engines found in non-hotrod vehicles. Granted, it was only off-the-line performance that was great, as the vehicle's top end was only 90mph, meaning that within short order you would get your doors blown off, but for darting in and out of traffic and entering interstates, etc. it was fabulous.

The biggest thing to get used to was no gear shift pauses, the speed was completely linear across the entire spectrum.

Yes, vehicle comparisons...

A Texan is telling a dairy farmer how large his ranch in Texas is. He tells the farmer his ranch is so large that if he gets into his pick-up truck and drives all day, he would not reach the other border of his ranch.

The Wisconsin dairy farmer thinks for a minute and then responds," I used to have a truck run like that."

I just haven't found the EV that has the personality that I am used to. I am sure it will come with time. Exhaust sounds, the mechanical innards symphony, the sound of air being sucked in and the hot cam making the engine crack and pop in a good way (think flat crank GT350 or 500), the snarl. Automakers are feverishly working on producing the soundtrack but are having a really hard time with it.

So far, the best approach has been adding an electric power plant to a traditional vehicle (F150 Lightning). Customer surveys have shown that potential buyers want a familiar vehicle, only EV.

AND, I still need to go long distances in rural areas without fear of being stranded.

Don: Went ceramic and have never gone back. Awesome!
