I like consistency between pages. Not necessarily between albums.

Greendragon ---- It is odd in a way ,where a collector does something to improve their collection but after a while you start to notice other people who you never discussed what you are doing, are doing much the same thing .

We got a important week in front of us . I know we talk about Worldwide stamp collecting a lot here .

But we don't discuss the Specialised collections that much . It is a large part of the collecting community . These are the country collector . But this week got 5 different countries specialised collections coming up for auction . With five different countries up at the same time .

This will tell us are there still active buyers for the better items of each country or are we hollowing out the hobby of country collectors ,this week will give us a clue . Naturely it is not smart to paint the whole hobby with the results of one auction but it will clue us to direction going forward .Remember it is one auction and one week but it will be a telling time because country auctions don't come around that often .

Question always gets asked are you just a "space filler " to hit that target of 330,000 different worldwide stamps ? The answer is NO !

The journey of building a stamp collection was never to just fill holes . It was to build something that I never seen ,having viewed 100's of collections at various stamp auction firms from Boston to San Fransico . Something that had the missing items ,sure many collections had some interesting additions but never a worldwide scope , seen many specialise country collections with unusually stuff but not a worldwide collection .

Floortrader, thanks for showing your album page with info on the 'S' overprint on El Salvador.

I always wondered about the purpose or reason. Scott's note just says it was done and was not official.

$20.00 in 1925. Wow!

I see CHERRYSTONE STAMP AUCTIONS had their second offering of that huge worldwide stamp collection of 75 volumes of self-printed Steiner Pages .
The first time the opening bid was around $21,000 . It did not sell ,we discussed it here before the auction and thought it was over priced . Then they reoffered at a new auction today for $14,000 . So it didn't sell again . If they start the bidding around 9 or 10 thousand then I think it would sell .
Lets wait and see .

Took a glance at that collection. Where do they get 14,000 from?

STAMP DRAGON ----"where did they get $14,000 " for their opening bid . I guess everyone of us and their expert describers each of us have our own method to value a collection .
I bet the next time you see this lot up for auction , it will be what I posted here in early June $9,000.00 to $10,000.00 . Or maybe they will add more material and then take better pictures and try for 10 to 12 thousand .
