It was interesting reading here the comments that people here stated that "I read the new issues but there was not enough in there to resubscribe " |

I like to read the Washington Watch since it covers workings of the USPS and Congress.
I do not collect new issues, errors, etc. so that content is not very interesting to me.

My email to Linn's sent over the weekend: Quote: Good morning,
There has been no direct communication with subscribers regarding the reduction in print issues in Linns starting in March 2023. Only the brief column.
How will those of us who prepaid for print editions be compensated for the lost print issues? Will our existing print subscriptions be extended to match the number of lost print issues? I still have almost a year remaining on my full print subscription.
Also, your subscription page still allows people to sign up or renew based upon the current pre-conversion model. At the time the column was posted, this form should have been switched over to the new model.
There really needs to be formal communication to all subscribers of print subscriptions.
Thank you, In fairness, they responded quickly yesterday with the following... although it's unclear to me whether they are proactively offering to extend subscriptions for existing print subscribers vs. "will do it if requested". It reads as the latter to me, meaning that unless people know about the option (and how would they if Linn's isn't telling them), certain subscribers won't be getting what actually they paid for. Quote: Hello,
Yes, we are prepared to extend the subscription for subscribers. Will you be using the digital edition? Or should we remove the digital option.
I have attached the changes in print, which I believe mailed with one of the recent issues.
Information Services is working to correct the renewal site this week.
Thanks, |

They use the word "prepared" as if subscriptions have not been extended. (poor choice of words?)/
When the SSM was merged with Linn's and when Linn's absorbed the "Stamp Collector" when Amos purchased Krause, it was automatically extended.
So now back to the way it used to be.

Linn's/Amos continues to disappoint... today's email includes their notices of both the latest digital issue of Linn's, and (separately) of the new Scott Stamp Monthly digital issue. The Monthly looks to be an image of an old issue). The link for the monthly edition does not work... it loads the Linn's Weekly current edition. I've emailed Linn's to let them know. Meanwhile, I can't gain access to the Monthly. Has anyone? Do you care to share the web link (URL)? That would be swell! And I must say, it is entirely possible that I have completely misunderstood the whole thing. But I've been with Linn's (off & on) since ~1965, and GLAD they still publish... but they've sure been making a mess of things for far too long. <whimper, whine> |

The link took me to the Linn's issues as well - no joy. I would have guessed it would be a different archive for the SSM since they will be separate for some subscribers.
Given they always post on Saturday, there is no one really monitoring emails. |

thanks, angore ... yes, I figured it will be Monday or later before hearing back from Linn's. Having been print, then digital, like many I suspect, I've seen too many instances of these failures. Something amiss in their IT dept, it seems. However I don't mind the digital version at all. Searching, zooming in, screen captures, save to PDF, all useful features. Those preferring paper may have no full size computer or even a laptop or tablet. I would be unhappy without this LARGE display on my desk. But the ability to quickly search through back issues is very handy. Now if they'd just allow downloading of all their digital materials & the Scott catalogues -- but some apparently were 'sharing' the files, ruining it for everyone when Linn's made it online only. Eh well. Apologies for the additional whining! |

Yes, and this morning Nicki Ingle replied,
"The incorrect link was sent. As a result, we will be correcting the link and resending the Monthly later edition today."
Guess I might assume that she doesn't know the link yet, or would have included it now? hmm |

I always log in by going to linns.com and clicking on the "digital edition login" link at top right. That link worked from the get-go this weekend. I don't think I've ever clicked the link in their email, but of course I almost never click the links in any email, for security reasons. |

When I clicked the link, it was with the other Linn's issues so not sure if the issue really was the SSM had not been uploaded yet. |

ArtfulHinger: Yes, attempted that logical solution, but it only gave me the weekly edition. And yes, now the updated email link works but they've filed the monthly in with the Linn's Weekly (check the URL when reading). But it's definitely the Scott Monthly for March 2023.
Side note: Your browser may vary, but on my Mac, both Chrome and Safari render the online version rather softly, compared to the PDF download when viewed with a typical PDF reader ('Preview' on the Mac). The PDF file is sharper, among other noticeable differences. If this is typical, best to download the issue for reading the clearest version! Not sure if this is true for the weeklies but am about to check.

Although it looks like Linn's, it does seem to cover more world topics more than prior issues. If Joe Brockert's column is a regular feature that would be nice but may overlap Hotchners.. However, still do not think Linn's/Scott's covers subjects such as what the PNC3 may cover such as perf, tagging, paper, and other differences in modern issues. That is, beyond the catalog for US. |
