Ebay And Their "Best Match"

And one of those has nothing to do with philately!

Of course.

"Just because stamp collectors may want see NY Stamps listings with crappy images and few Item Specifics does not mean that ebay is going to adjust an algorithm that helps drive 2 BILLION other transactions per day."
I don't want to see their listings, but I'm sure ebay is happy having lots of collectors see their listings because ebay love NYS.

I know tey are going to keep on doing it, but promoting big sellers is a viscous circle - sell more, get promoted more, get promoted more, sell even more. Makes it very difficult for little sellers like myself.

While I too avoid the "Best Match" like the plague but really because it is a useless waste of electrons.

However, I find the "Sponsored Items Based Upon Your Recent Views" to be far worst than best match ever is.

While searching for some info on the 1932 Washington Bicentennial set, I saw and clicked on a 3 cent used Stuart Washington priced at $1500.00 from a seller with feed back of "0" as in ZERO.

After that foray for a laugh, this is what ebay sent me:



Now those would make best match woefully inadequate as even best match does not so succinctly pull together a group of overpriced wonders as spot on as these. It includes the $1500 with zero feedback listing too. But to be fair I do dip my hat to the guy who wants $1000.00 AND has the backbone to charge for shipping. (But my listing is less than half of some, what do you mean $700 is too high?)

Some of my best kiloware buys have been from ebay's best match.
