I wonder where the invoice for $1000 was from.

Are you saying that there was no invoice for $1000, that NYStamps made it up? That is not fair to NYStamps and could damage their reputation.

It went unsold, because it was priced into 3-4k if I recall. The problem with that stamp as an EFO collector will know, is the 'faint traces'. 99% error omitted might look super cool, but it is just an aberration - not the real deal. If priced in the hundreds, it might have attracted some interest as a piece. If I remember, Cherrystone tried hard to push it, even putting it on cover. I feel like they have been overpricing EFO material for a while, and people aren't biting. Kelleher has been much better with assessing value, even indicative by todays sale.

I am surprised by the work on NYstamps offering. A bleach job could have been done on a better centered vignette and been way more passable than this.

No reason for them to make it up, just wish they would say from where. I have gotten material from NYStamps still on the seller's from where the was purchased before being sold or consigned to NYStamps. Really no different than the stamps in the ABC Sale (see: https://goscf.com/t/85124 ) which contains material still on another company's priced old retail counter stock sheets. Stuff moves in the market still one the old pages, auction or retail.

They should have chemically altered a mint example, then fake-cancelled it so the cancel doesn't ALSO look chemically altered. Or chemically treat a 'face free' cancelled example. Why they worked on this particular example only shows their stupidity.
