I am currently enduring an ongoing saga that has yet to conclude. I purchased a small lot overseas and have now tried to generate a service ticket for it. If I ever receive the lot I'll be interested to learn why it got stuck in an endless loop. I actually edited this for brevity! Nowadays your online help is a "virtual assistant".

Just had a friend in Canada receive my Christmas card that I posted 12/21. Not sure what is going on with Canada Post.

Today (Jan. 30th) the item was rescanned without progress. I asked the CP Virtual Assistant for a "real person" and, after it discouraged me a few times, I may have chatted online with a biological unit. I was given an updated service ticket number and promised a "Senior Resolution Specialist" and a callback.

They must have the same guy at the helm that we do in the States!

I read somewhere that last month Canada Post has resolved issues delivering parcels. 6 days ago a news article stated that Canada Post is selling off its it and logistics departments. "Talk about going in circles"

I just received a package Jan 24 that was sent from LaPoste in France Nov 21st. While it did come from overseas through customs, it must be in containers, definetly not likey through air. If it was early in the container, it was probably last to be removed and processed.

Archerg, the fact that it is going around seems like it may be a postal code issue.

Agreed. It would seem to be an easy programming step that once an item has been scanned so many times, or at the same place more than a few times, that it be kicked out for manual inspection.

Thanks all for your replies.

I received a call from a CPC rep today. She politely explained that she would try to have the item captured and forwarded, though she couldn't make any promises as it had once been designated as "return to sender".

Since it has shuttled between Toronto and Montreal six times now, without returning to sender in the Netherlands, I wonder if the parcel has been mutilated to the point where the addresses are unreadable. I would think the information collected digitally on issuance of a tracking number could be used as backup, but perhaps this is also incomplete.

I have had problems receiving mail from the Netherlands before. A lot of cannabis products and seeds are mailed illicitly from there, and my innocuous stamp purchases from there usually bear some scar of inspection or sealing tape.

I'll post more if my M.T.A. parcel turns up, and a picture if it's interesting enough to post.

I hope their outward delivery is better than their inward.

I'm waiting on two letters from Canada. They're not overdue by any stretch but I'll be keen to see them arrive!

Sure enough, both arrived today, despite being posted one week apart.

The earlier was posted 9/1, and I'm still waiting for a letter from the USA that was posted two days prior to that.

That said, a letter from Perth (yes, the other side of the same country) arrived today that was posted before Christmas.

What a circus

Go figure

Sorry to hear about your problem . I thought the whole idea of AI online help was to ease things for the organisation by making it so THEY don't have to do anything. Uk government onlne helps usually send you round in closed loops. I waited on the telephone for 34 mnutes to speak to a person, to find out speaking to a human was going to be better then waited another 30 minutes to speak to the right department. But it saved me over £3,500. I find when buying stamps Email is fine but dealing with more sophisticated technology often fails.

No parcel or movement as of this morning. My service ticket expired, without result or any communication, except I can see it was last scanned at a depot in Mississauga Jan. 31st. It has been scanned six times at that location.

I have motivated the Dutch seller to press for delivery of the parcel, working on the theory that the sender has some compensation rights to lost or damaged property.

What is perhaps most irritating is that I live less than 12 kilometres from the depot. 130 years ago, very likely a horse and buggy would have dropped it off next day.

THAT is impressive! Never count Canada Post out for creating interesting delivery methods and routings.

I've experienced a few re-routes like this in the past myself, but this is an absolute record.

I truly hope you receive the package in the end!! Too bad the package can't accumulate frequent traveller miles...

Very likely, to the point that it was almost a certainty!

Parcel is today still somewhere in purgatory awaiting its fate. I checked with PostNL, it should not be a postal code issue as it is recorded correctly there. If it ever arrives I expect it will be in a plastic bag.
