The 'Kinderpostzegels' also are a nice complete set from the first issue in 1924. The Netherlands was hot on the heels of Switzerland issuing these child welfare stamps. The early sets will set you back € 10 - € 20. From 1929 that doubles and even triples for 1932 -1936 and drop back to € 10 - € 15 up to 1940. Thereafter, the value is much lower if not minimal.

That cover is a piece of vandalism on its own. The stamp itself is mutilated and not valid at the time. I, however, think it is not about the actual stamp but about what it represents. From that perspective, it is a great piece of social (postal) history.

I think the sender cut down an old used stamp of King William III and used it as a seal in an act of resistance.
Maybe the sender was conveying the message 'OZO' by using this stamp of a House of Orange member. The Germans had taken the stamps of our Queen out of circulation, in 1940.

Highly interesting as a piece of social history. Monetarily, not so much.

If unmounted, that is an excellent buy. Even when hinged, it is a good buy.

Deceased persons family dumped his life work at auction? Or how should I interpret this possibly the collector expected a better turn up on the auction? Stolen?

If not described as 'postfris' and accompanied with photographs of all stamps, sadly that is the state of the market, especially if this was not in a specialised stamp auction. This, likely, is an inheritance sold by the family that has no knowledge of stamps.
