One question I wished I could have asked... What did they do if they found stamps not in Big Blue ? Note that even with Steiner pages one needs to go outside the box. I think that is one thing that really hampers/frustrates me is finding stamps that don't fit.

Having two people working on it was the key and if they were disciplined enough, and it sounds like they were, focusing on those empty spaces took them 6 years (thanks redwoodrandy)

Once they were done the fun was gone and they sold it. Stan said they "just lost the fever for it." It would be fun to find the auction they were in! I remember something about that but I can't recall exactly.

Landoquakes --To answer your question , They sold it at a public auction house not a stamp auction in a sale in four parts . They got over $100,000 for it .

This would sound right for what you got . I think the first book {pre-1940 } would realize in the $25,000 -$32,000 range in price or 1/3 the purchase price , The other 28 volumes all together is the 2/3 of the value .

I think the scans of identicial pages gives both new collectors and our overseas members a good idea of the different albums . Also a better understanding between Scott Internationals and the Steiner Pages .

All those albums look great in the cabinetry Floortrader. A beautiful collection.

I think about doing the world every now and then and how fun it would be to dive into a project like that. But then I remember I have my hands (and house) full with just Canada, UK, Germany and US.

When you say

they wanted to fill spaces ,as for me I just want to see how far down the path I can go to have a decent collection

Filling spaces means not worrying about the quality of the stamps vs taking the time to find the better ones?
