I didn't see some of those. Wow, 22.50 per stamp. That's almost a record. I think me and a Japanese bidder fought it out to $30 or something for a cat stamp years ago from modcanjim. I had more money then too. Have never seen it again. The Shan girl is one I would have bid on if I hadn't spent a little here and a lot there on other stamps. I don't even have the original Shan girl yet. Boy that m***d person really can pack a punch. That 22.50 Neepawa stamp was bid for 5 seconds before the close. That's as close as you can get I think. They must be using a bidding service for that. Shucks. Takes all the fun out of it. Where's the mystery, the excitement.... |

The Alaska Cruise stamps are hard to find used with the photo. It will be interesting to watch this one. I would be interesting in seeing a blow up of the cancel. |

From Delcampe seller 'Loutremer' in Quebec. Store: http://stamps.delcampe.net/seller_s...ber=00314458http://stamps.delcampe.net/member.p...me=loutremerEntitled Timbre-photo 2010 Peinture de James Peachey vue de Berthier...en 1781 Translates by Doug and Google as 2010 Picture Postage Stamp, Painting by James Peachey for Berthier in 1781. (fixed up by me very roughly) CAD $4.00 starting price. Included with the stamp (which came MNH but on a piece of glassine paper so MH I suppose now) was a little three line description: Timbre-poste photo emis par le Centre d'imterpretation et de recherche philatelique du Canada representant une lithographie de James Peachey intitulee 'Vue de Berthier et du port la riviere Batonne en 1781'. Google translated as Photo Stamp issued by the Centre for Research and imterpretation philatelique of Canada representing a lithograph by James Peachey ENTITLED 'View of Berthier and the river port of Baton in 1781'. Please pardon my using Google and my bad spelling if present. |

A question. Is it useful or necessary to make a distinction between a PP stamp that ONLY comes out on an envelope ie: the Saskatchewan Roughrider envelope and a stamp that is affixed to an envelop and becomes a cover. The Roughrider stamp is not a FDC so what do we call it? A Stampvelope? An Enstamp? Wow - maybe a chance to contribute a word to the English language - heady stuff....... Cheers Murray |

Sorry rallymanm and all, I should have checked that. I have put in a link to his main page now, just click on See Sellers Store form there. There is no stamp there now because I bought it and he has not listed another one yet . Just email him and ask if he has more and will be listing any more. I forgot to ask. Now I must go and find out how to get Delcampe to email me when a seller has new items, if they have that feature. |

Picture Postage Scott 2063and 2064 Stanley Gibbons 2294 and 2295 Proposed numbering system: Eight categories: 1) Animals 2) Architecture 3) Covers 4) People 5) Miscellaneous 6) Organizations or Companies 7) Transportation 8) PS Postal Stationery 9) Xx Rejected or Counterfeit Numbers to start with the frame design Ribbon= RI and Picture frame=PF followed by the first two letters of the category followed by consecutive numbering starting at 0001. With this system the older issues could be included by creating new frame abbreviations and no hassle from Scott. A comprehensive description or abbreviated description of the subject of the stamp and the reason it was issued. Therefore a counterfeit stamp could have the same number as the real one except the letters would be replaced with XX. If stamps with dual subjects ( human holding cat) would be given 2 numbers these numbers could be selected ( lowest number available in most populated category) so likewise these numbers would be the same except for the 2 letters. The vertical or horizontal nature of the photo is immaterial and ignored. If a stamp is cut off an envelop that is a PS then it still has the same number but in the description can be identified as a cut square or CS Example: Number would be: PFAn0001 Description: Dog Jag52 Number would be: RIOr0001 Description: Premier Envelope And so on. Order would be entirely arbitrary by person processing the scans. I just checked and the whole thing could put up as a Flickr group on Yahoo, for nothing, and open to all. Rev. Jan19, 2011 |
