I belive "Elitist Collectors " are collectors who have a few stamps that catalog more than 25 cents each .

I will give you an example: some years ago my brother and I were at a major show, and were looking at a one frame exhibit of interesting and unusual 3 cent prexie covers. Two exhibitors walked past saying "why would anyone want to look at such a cheap stamp anyway, it shouldn't even be an exhibit. They (meaning us) should look at a real exhibit like yours or mine".

I avoided commenting on this topic because I wanted to see how it progressed. I am happy to see it seems to be still on the rails.

I also want to compliment Shakey 7 for explaining some of the definitions to his son. MY comment to that is there is a nice term for those subject specific uses of words, "term of art."

That said I will link a thread from elsewhere on SCF https://goscf.com/t/84171&whichpage=1 which discusses a fly speck in detail. It also describes a fly speck which has great value as an identification and dating tool. The thread also discusses helpful fly specker resources.

Edit to add a missed ed.

I really appreciate the compliments and support for what I am doing with my son.

It just surprises me that it took 2 weeks for the first response to my original post. Maybe there was gas leak somewhere. I'm just kidding.

My first intent with the original post was to share something I found humorous that my son had said to me as it correlates to the hobby we all share.

This is to all you fly speckers out there.

Jeremy

Floortrader I like the post with German stamps. Millitarde!!! Now that is funny.
