Any collector of the 1861 issue who sees a genuine Pigeon Blood Pink will remember it. It is very unlike any other shade.

It's not just me, various people have been writing and saying the same thing for a very long time.

That's why tetrachromats don't collect stamps. Too confusing, not enough names for what they're seeing.

Pigeon Blood Pink = Master Class in Marketing

I will bet anyone a C3a that they could not pick out a Pigeon from a lineup of different pink(ish) three cent Washington's.

To go a step further, while the reference books may help some achieve a perception in others eyes of having advanced philatelic bona fides, the actual practical usefulness is limited since both the stamps and the books are older than the average APS member by a factor of two.

You would lose. There are certainly some people who could do so. There were also some relatively recently late dealers who could do so.
