Your answer is on the left side of this permit. It is not a stamp and will not be listed. It is a private design used as a permit meter-stamp indicating postage was paid. That said that is a nice topical design.

It is a stamp. Canada Post called these personalized stamps Picture Postage

Clip is from Unitrade catalogue

It will not be listed (as to the individual design as even noted in the images posted by lithograving) and I disagree with the term stamp even if being called that by the Canadian Postal Service. I hold the same opinion of the vanity postage labels issues in the USA. A label paying valid postage does not make a stamp.postage even when the meter image includes a nice picture.

As it states in Unitrade there are perhaps hundreds of thousands of different designs
and obviously no catalogue could or would list them all.

But the base stamp format which was used for ChippyDad's stamp
is in Scott catalogue.

Canada Scott 2064

Parcelpostguy, you can disagree all you want but even Scott calls it a stamp and
gives it a listing.

Chippydad, is it a postage stamp or printed image on envelope. You cut image so close it is hard to tell.

Here is a Picture Postage stamp I received on Christmas mail in 2008.
Friends of ours showed off their cat on this stamp.

Lithograving, right on. The box of turtles sold at P.O. with their personalized stamp on it was another good example. Its too bad that Canada Post did away with the Picture postage stamp program. Many stamp shows used it for covers about the show. Now you only see picture postage personalized admail with images of stamps or the words "personalized mail" printed on stationary or personalized ad mail.

No1philatelist I agree in that it was basically a good idea even though I never
used it.
Actually I suggested to my daughter that it would be great to get personalized
stamps for her wedding invitations but she wasnt keen on it.

She picked the cute little fawn stamps.

Wow. Many thanks for the education on this "stamp" That was a dry period in my collecting history so I missed quite a few "inventions" from Canada Post. The base framing reference in Scott is very helpful as is lithograving's post. Thanks, again. Keith (ChippyDad)

I would classify this item as stamp fluid or stamp neutral being an ambiguous creature that lives between traditional norms.

I could live with that definition since it includes the word stamp

A lot of countries issue these stamps. They are issued by the postal authorities and valid to prepay postage. You can use them on all mail. Many postal authorities even issue their own designs for thematic collectors. I do not see why they are anything but postage stamps.

They, mostly, are commercial products and, especially when they have a personalised design, sold over face value. Whilst I consider that a good reason to shy away from them, it doesnot disqualify them as postage stamps. Postal authorities decide what they accept as postage stamp, not collectors. Collectors decide what they include in their stamp collections.
