"Yes, plus possible customs processing fees depending on how the lots are shipped (post vs. FedEx or other courier (DHL etc.) and whether the shipper pre-pays the tariffs."

Thing about the post office is you take the same thicker/stiffer/larger/heavier envelope to different clerks and you get charged a different amount each time. If they can't even understand their own regulations, how bad will it be to add increased customs on top of it.

I'm expecting it will be chaotic. I'm not bidding on anything from foreign sellers on ebay until I see how the tariffs are actually implemented.

"If that is the premise (stopping the flow of fentanyl), then they should just say that, and monitor everything for fentanyl. "
That costs money and since they don't know which ones are going to have contraband (fentanyl, other drugs, counterfeits), they have to check everything or at least more than they have been checking, so we all bear the cost.

That's exactly my point ... it will cost money, and they will have to check everything. So, why not do that, and charge back / punish the countries found to permit these shipments or trans-shipments? Otherwise, what are we accomplishing here? If they are just going to charge a tariff, and then let them through without checking them for fentanyl, then we still have fentanyl coming into our country, now as a taxable (or tariffed) item legally. So, are they going to charge them a tariff on the value of the item and THEN check them for fentanyl? No, they never said they were going to do that. We have accomplished nothing except raising revenue in the US, annoy all of our international trade partners, and (eventually) charging the US consumer more for the goods they purchase internationally.

Well, here we go.

I have an order scheduled to arrive next week, volume one of a Lighthouse album for France but am now being told they cannot guarantee future deliveries of these.

I may switch to collecting US stamps and expanding my American made products.

But, of course, only if you purchase from US based dealers, or items shipped from US warehouses. This is so confusing.

This is the Deutsche Post / DHL announcement that it stopped accepting small parcels destined for the USA. They do still accept small parcels sent by non-commercial individuals if marked "gift" and the valye does not surpass USD 100. At the time of publishing, this was EUR 84.

Here is another issue. If you sent a gift worth 84 Euros and the USD depreciates during transit, you mai still have a problem.

Until now, I have not seen any information published by PostNL.

There's also a similar notice by the Spanish PO. I'm very sorry for our US friends.

Gifts, documents, and letters, still, are accepted. Interestingly, this is the first reference I see to books not being affected by the new customs regulations.

FedEx and UPS must be more than happy now since they have their own customs departments.

An article on the Washington Post webpage says that there will be a flat rate tariff of $80 for packages from countries with a tariff of 15 percent or less, $160 for packages from countries with 16 to 25 percent tariffs and $200 for packages from countries with over 25 percent tariffs. The article is unclear and this might only apply to packages that have not prepaid the tariff

That USD 80 number has been mentioned before, but in the case the duties have not been levied at the sender's side (in the EU). Also, it is unclear whether this is additional to the rate. It appears to be one reason postal authorities are suspending service to the USA, as they fear the recipients will refuse to accept the packages when confronted with those charges.
