Is anyone familiar with KLEEN_PEEL Brand Stamp hinges? Are they new or vintage? Where are they from? The packages say Foreign Made (Packed in England). How well do they work? Any feedback is appreciated...

I came across an advert this morning for "tasteless" hinges- think it's the same brand, advertised in the back of a "Victory" album from the 1950s or 1960s. Will check later.

Thanks johnsim03

These are the hinges I was referring to. They also come in packs of 1000 with different color packaging.

I don't know one way or another, but I suspect that these are not true vintage hinges. I've never had any in my possession to check them out...

The packaging is a bit suspect to me. It doesn't say that they are made in England - only that they are packaged there... No dates appear on the packaging.

I only became aware of them from some ebay listings I saw. I chose to buy some Peerless hinges instead.

Perhaps someone else will chime in who has tried them or actually has a package. If someone does have a package, or some knowledge of them, perhaps they will enter the discussion.

From a 1930s album. Both types are made in England.

The text on the Kleen-Peel envelope seems a bit odd to me- why state that the envelope itself is printed in England? Maybe something to do with Purchase Tax rules, like cars being sold in Complete Knock-down state.

Vintage Rapkin Peerless hinges are good. You'll also find a lot of empty Peerless tins on ebay, but few if any usable hinges.

The packaging says "foreign made" meaning imported from outside of England. The next question is in what countries were hinges made, besides the USA back when the best hinges, Dennison, were made. In recent years the best but still inferior hinges are German made Prinz.

Also of interest may be: https://stampsmarter.org/learning/G...ennison.html

I was able to find an image of the actual Kleen-Peel hinges. It is very hard to judge by an image but I still lean towards saying these are probably not vintage (peelable) hinges...

What do you all think?

Yes, ye olde GB hinges tend - albeit not always - to have rounded corners.

Also available in green. The hinges have the same impressed lines as those shown. Most likely from the 1970s, as they came already opened in a box lot of albums from that decade.

To which hinges are you referring? Dennison hinges were USA made and Prinz thinks it is a Germany Company located in Passau, Germany. Are you referring to the maker of the hinges "non-England" made hinges in the OP's packet?
