Is there any further action I need to take to have that appear as my avatar?

Nothing more for you to do but have patience...

This site is mostly volunteer run, and the administrators will get to it as time permits, often waiting until a few avatars have been queued up to add them all at once. If nothing has happened after a few weeks or a month, you can ping them again, but I think it usually doesn't take that long.

By the way, welcome, and nice plate scratch on the Chief Hollow Horn Bear stamp.

OK, I didn't think there was anything more I needed to do, but I appreciate your confirmation. It's a good opportunity for me to practice patience.

And yes, I think that is about my favorite 14¢ American Indian plate flaw/variety in my collection. The scratch's location in the empty space to the left of Hollow Horn Bear just about screams, "Look at me!" I have a few other varieties that I've accumulated over the years; might be a good choice for my first real thread.

I collect most of California's Redwood Empire , Humboldt & Mendocino counties, including the RPOs that ran through them. Any town or city I mention is located in one or the other.
My primary sources are
California Town Postmarks 1850 - 1935 compiled by John H. Williams & the Western Cover Society
Mobil Post Office Society RPO Catalog, MPOS U. S. Route and Station Agent Catalog, and the MPOS RPO Directory and AGT Directory
California Postmaster Compensation compiled by Alan H. Patera
