Hi am wanting to do an intermediate level Canada album from about 1970 to the 2020s. The reason being, I am collecting some stamps from countries/areas where I can trace my family history. I have an ancestor who lived in Upper Canada, back in the mid-1800s, but that time period is out of my budget. I am also collecting US, using Harris Liberty albums, a.d dabbling in various German areas and Great Britain. I looked for the Harris stamp album but it does not seem to exist. Iffypedia says that it is currently still produced, but all I can find is yearly supplements. Does anyone know the story on the Harris Canadian album? I am very open to other ideas for a modern Canada album for someone looking to fill spaces amd enjoy the new stamps, no specialization. I am in the US. I know tariff policy has made things weird. Harris is based in the US, but sold to Scott amd then the albums are made overseas anyway.

I did look in search, but couldn't find anything newer than 2013 and then one recommendation was to make one's own pages or download. If that is the best album option today, I am open to that also, but realizing quite a bit could have changed in 12 years. |

Gibbons had a no-nonsense, "one-country" Canada album, but I think that has probably been discontinued. There's probably still a more expensive option via its tie-up with Davo.
I suspect that album series are vanishing in dribs and drabs - bad news if you've put your time and money into a particular line. |

3Dadeo that is a good offer for a 2 volume album at a little less than $60 USD. I plan on contacting fvh and seeing what that will look like with the shipping too. It appears Harris quit making full albums in 2010. TBH I need a good deal because the section before 1970 and the block pages will be a waste for current purposes. |

Johnsim03 the album easy pages would cover 1970-1973 and 2000- 2022, leaving a 27 year hole to fill using my various pages and a 2022 Harris catalog. Definitely doable but a challenge for me at this point. The Harris album would leave a gap from 2011 unless the supplement are bought too. A couple of good ideas though, thanks! |

My Harris Canada Album runs up to 1986 and I've used Palo pages/albums for the years after that. I think I read somewhere on here that Palo uses the Steiner layout. But they're large size pages which I think present the stamps better. |

OK, seems I was only looking at the user created albums. In the world traveler section, I thought it was very limited, but when you scroll down past the topical lists there is a lot more. I can do a cost analysis and see whether there is enough savings to be worth printing my own pages. Some may not factor in the ink but I'll bet it would use at least $25 worth on Canada pages from 1970 to now (2400 or so, as of 2022). |

Just spoke to FVH stamps. They are sold out of the Harris Canada albums, but they hope to get some products in a month or so. Long story short, the company that was producing them shut down production and relocated to Toronto, leaving an extended time without production.
If it helps anyone, shipping to the Southern US would be about $30 Canadian, but again the base price seems very fair. |

$30 sounds cheaper than it would be to mail to Canada from southern US. The costs of shipping from here to Calgary are high. |

That is what the guy in Vancouver said; should have explained that. I don't have any current first-hand experience, as my family's experience is from about the time of the Civil War! |

You could do a custom year range from Palo, with your choice of color or b&w, hingeless or not. |

One cost comparison is done. Doubtless some could take issue with my methods, but using the best I have going for me between 1 and 2 am.
Before selling out, Harris Canada album was $80USD for beginning to 2010, including shipping.
World collector album from beginning to 1999 printed on 80 lb paper with Epson ink jet, would cost $69 or so. 2000-2010 on user-created pages would be about another $30. That is for about 300 pages at $66 and about $34 for the ink. That is also assuming one can find the ink and paper without paying any shipping, and that one has the right size binder lying around the house.
Conclusion: There is no savings for Canada at least by printing your own pages, or printing the pages could be more expensive.
There are other reasons why one might want to print one's own pages. Also, I wanted to start in 1970 and go to the present, so using this for my own sake is like comparing apples to oranges. Hopefully, again, the info helps someone. |
