I'm not having any luck trying to contact the moderator or staff person to ask about how to get in touch with Iangreenwood off thread. So far, I get the little screen for my question, but it won't let me type in it! Could be because I'm not yet an established member - not enough posts or something. Can anyone point me in the right direction, please?

Might I suggest you contact me by googling 'Guthrum' and 'stamps' and doing a bit of detective work from there?

Not helpful, Kirk, and unnecessarily brusque. We obviously have a different understanding of the word 'community'.

Actually, IAN, your "do a bit of detective work" comment is the one that sounds a little brusque.

Nevertheless, the rules are the rules and I only intended to offer them as an explanation as to why strider can't access the email system yet.

I don't think we can thank you enough, jorgesurcl, for all the detailed information you manage to dig up and share. Thank you so much!

By the way, I have Harold Osborn down without an e at the end of his surname. Is there any decisive information on whether it's Osborn or Osborne?

I'll second that! jorgesurcl has saved me hours of frustration.

As for Harold Osborn, his Canadian stamps (including Bluenose) and the Liberian one I have were all listed without the e. If it was just Gibbons I might be suspicious but I got the Canadian details from the Canada Post website so they should be right.

http://data4.collectionscanada.ca/n...=POST&p=1&u=http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/020117/020117030106_e.html&r=1&f=G&SECT3=POST

I can't post much as I'm a couple of thousand kilometres away from my computer and using an awkward little miniature thing.

While we are talking about him, despite "Bluenose" and his other Canadian stamps being excellent, this is still my favourite Harold Osborn stamp.

Bay Thighed Diana Monkey from Liberia. Osborn engraved the vignette and Warrell Hauck engraved the frame. SG627 Scott 288

I know we had this here before but it wasn't worth mentioning without the picture.

Message for jorgesurcl

If you type the word "engraver" into the stamps category on ebay today there are a lot of signed ABNCo proofs on offer. Prices are high but well worth a look.
