Collecting By Engraver

I will conclude this mini-survey of Albert Decaris's work with images of a couple more stamps depicting ships, designed and engraved by this French master.

Arne Kühlmann was a superb engraver of many Danish stamps.
When he first started engraving in 1974 he only worked on a few
because Slania was still engraving the majority of Danish
stamps but within a few years Kühlmann did all most of them.

Nice nethryk. I also have those and most Danish from the
fifties to the eighties and many from Greenland.

I was really attracted to these stamps at the time,
naturally due to their engraving.
My only complaint would be their rather small format.

Do you have any additional info about Kühlmann ?
What was the last stamp he engraved?
Is he even still alive?

Vittorio Nicastro (1916-?), an Italian artist and engraver, produced a number of beautiful stamps from the mid-1950s to the mid-1970s. Here are images of some examples of Nicastro's engraving skills.

lithograving - Thanks. I don't have any biographical information about Arne Kühlmann. I do know that he was still engraving for Denmark in 2006, as he is credited for some work on the three stamp New Carlsberg Glyptotek Centenary litho & engraved set issued on June 7, 2006, Scott Nos. 1354-56. I think I remember that he wrote an article about engraving a couple of years ago; I'll look for it in my clippings files. For sure I haven't heard that he is dead! - nethryk

I collect Italy to around 1960..how could I have been ignorent of Senor Nicastro ??? second...how do I get in contact with the 3 graces ?

Yes they certainly have fine engraved comely figures, don't they?
