Well, with the track record of Gamestop, we might not need to worry about ebay for long.

Edited to add this math for the math challenged: ebay is on pace for 2026 to exceed 12,000 million as quantified in the table above. In standard math that is $12 Billion (and to correct English)

Plus, ebay operates basically its own bank now. At any moment they have possibly billions on deposit waiting to be paid out to sellers. Imagine the money they make putting it to work for a day. Imagine further if they add a day's delay to future payouts. Someone in finance, please correct me if I'm wrong.

GameStop wants ebay exactly because eBay is a high flyer. GameStop has boatloads of cash but a weak business model.

GameStop is the remora that is hoping to catch a ride on a shark. They'd be idiots to hollow out ebay, or do anything at all that would slow down its current streak (other than adding their own lackluster performance to the overall ebay numbers, of course).

And they have a healthy 20% +/- profit margin.

Just in: ebay rejects GameStop takeover bid

ebay's chairman of the board of directors wrote, "We have concluded that your proposal is neither credible nor attractive."
