Is Modern Stamps, Inc. A Legitimate Stamp Auction Firm?

So the next time someone says they think a stamp has been reperfed or a revenue trimmed we should just shut that down too?

Around here as I have written before BULK wholesale Forever sheets run about 25-30% of face, full sheets of non-forever at about 20% and non-full sheets (scrap) under that.

Front door, side door, back door, fell off a truck, postal burglary, purchased over a USPS counter are all ways legitimate stamps can reach the public from the USPS. Front door, side door, back door, fell off a truck, printer's burglary are way stamps can escape the printer (technical term is printer waste).

Now the USPS and USPIS say the only way to be sure you are getting non-counterfeit stamps is buying them from the USPS.

Okay, so you buy them and have some extra, how can I trust what you have are not counterfeits? Without the needed knowledge to ID counterfeits shall I assume all your stamps are fakes because you are not the USPS?

At one time one of my brick and mortar dealers would have large quantities of modern issues of all denominations, less than 30 days after issue. How? Leftover stock from FDC issuers.

Now to you calling out a dealer or in this case and auction firm, without understanding exactly what is being sold, then requiring the person to prove it to you? Sorry, you need to do your research first. Now if you can show or reasonably explain why the lotted stamps are counterfeit or otherwise unlawfully offered, then notify your local postal inspector.

The postal inspectors welcome my reports, unlike some dealers who were breaking the law. Also due to the prior owner's business while using a USPS PO Box I currently had, I got child porn or what bordered upon it, mailings. I turned them in too. More than once with a laugh, I was told, "Yes, we probably sent that." The return address was the giveaway. The prior box holder was the subject of the investigation.

In summary, until you, StampSlacker have proof to your satisfaction, I recommend you stop collecting most any 21st Century US stamp issues. This is still the United States of America where you are innocent (actually or presumed) until lawfully proven otherwise.

Thank you for pointing out how ridiculous this topic is. Obviously, if you did not even see the stamp being questioned and still thought it suspicious that would be improper. Such is the case here. Didn't see the stamps but infers something nefarious is going on.

Is there anyone besides Mystic still making any significant quantities? (significant as in they might have dozens of unused sheets when they get done)

That is a question you need to direct to the AFDCS and has nothing to do with the veracity of the stamps being sold at auction by the firm.

I propose this to avoid the sale of bulk US Stamp, all previously issued stamps are invalidated with 30 days warning and every stamp issued is only valid for 14 day inclusive with FD of issue.

That would also help the philatelic hobby by making most modern stamps less expensive for collectors as collector value would no longer be tied to face values. The impact of counterfeits would be reduced as well due to greatly reduce sales and use period.

Additionally it would prevent the sale of bulk postage lots at auction as they could not be offered with in the 14 day period of validity.

It has everything to do with your argument that these current issues could be leftovers from FDCs makers.

I've bought auctions including large lots of mint U.S. postage from Modern Stamps have the last decade plus. I've never bought any of the Forever stamps, but plenty of stamps from the 1990's and older. I've had nothing but stellar service from them.
