Wow! It's amazing you said that. During my Peruvian stint I assembled loads of "laughably contrived errors", particularly with the 1920 Leguias, and came to the same conclusions you made earlier.
I was thinking about these after your first comment, something like "minor perf errors are nothing compared to the monstrosities I've seen.." but then you fortuitously called out the EXACT Frankenstein nature of what I assumed could only be of intentional design with the Peruvians.
